Comments Section

This blog was created for those who really want to know what's happening in Chicago. We're at a pace to break records for homicides right now, but as usual not everything is reported. I'd like to see alot of posts from different sources. You can create a profile and not link it to your primary e-mail if you'd like. I respect those who want to remain anonymous to prevent "employment-related problems". Let's blog !!!

Nextel..Done! Just heard from a reliable source the city is phasing out it's Nextel's in favor of Verizon. I assumed this was going to happen as we use the Verizon network for transmitting our data via the Panasonic laptops we use to document our runs. They even have a new Push-to-Talk coming out soon that is supposed to be as fast as Nextel. Anyone want to check it out with me when it comes out???

Fly Message:

The fly has spread his wings. I have added a few to the e-mail notifications, if you don't want them, let me know. I can only have 10 notifications so i'll try to get as many as I can.
I'd like to have a few others out there post some incidents. Doesn't have to be too formal, but some other names posting would be nice.
Thanks to all who have come back and to all who have recently joined us.

In regards to the St. Xavier University Drowning, I read this comment this morning on the SCC Blog. I think it deserves a post here:

SCC: OFF TOPIC-BUT GOOD NEWS TOO

I want to extend a “Thank You” to the excellent and heroic work done by the two tactical officers from the 5th District, and the one tactical officer from the 22nd District, last night at SXU in their attempts to save a young man from drowning in Lake Marion.

Officers, your actions were selfless, commendable, and heroic. Hold your heads high as you have nothing to be sorry about. Your actions made me and my two little boys proud to be the spouse/family of a CPD Officer. You tried your hardest to save that boys life, I know, I was there and saw you, and I commend you for going into that water and when so many others just sat and watched. My sons were so excited to tell their father when he woke up for work about seeing the police officers in the water when we got home last night.

After seeing the news last night and then reading the paper this morning, I realize that the reporters think it was members of the CFD who jumped in to save him and not the members of the CPD. I guess you guys in the CPD will never get a break from the media, especially if it is something that is commendable.

I just want to let you know that I, and my family, appreciated your efforts and we are thankful that you are out there for us. I am sure if people asked you, you would just say you are doing your job, but I know that was not the case. You did so much more then just your job. I only wish that the public could see and hear about all the fine work that the CPD Officers do, day in and day out, that receive so little fanfare or even a mention at all.

Thank you!

A wife & a friend of the CPD.

It's Over !!

The Waste of Chicago i'm referring to. Nothin but a waste of taxpayer resources, depletion of Fire and Police manpower for what exactly?? So the surbanites can feel like they're safe and secure...um noooo! Alot of gang presence this year, compared to a few years ago I was there. Cancel the damn thing I say, or better yet, back to Navy Pier with admission and security checkpoints. Limit food booths, and eliminate the riff-raff.

I agree...limit entry by charging a gate fee. I go to Naperville's RibFest and Summerfest in Milwaukee every year...they both charge to get in and there are never any problems!!

GREAT work by both CPD and CFD who worked the taste this year. I was there working the 3rd and 4th and will NEVER go there again. The gang bangers have ruined what was once a GREAT festival.

I didn't go this year and I am so glad I took my son to Brazzaz instead. We had quality time. No fear. No being on a heightened sense of alert. Just what I have heard here and on the news I will never go again in its' current format. No way. I am getting too old for that nonsense. Imagine what the Olympics would look like...but more importantly COST if Daley gets it. No thanks!!

fuwrckcbHow about moving it to Northerly Island (formerly Meggs Field). No street closures. Ample parking. It could be a permanent fest site.

Don't elimnate it, just install perimeter fencing and check points. That will deter the shit heads, omg we have to go through a gate now.

MOVE IT TO SOLDIER FIELD OR MCCORMICK PLACE. CHARGE ADMISSION AROUND $10-$20. ENFORCE A DRESS CODE. NOT SIDEWAYS BALL CAPS, BAGGY CLOTHES AND OTHER GANG MEMBER NONSENSE. GET RID OF THE VOLATILE MUSIC GROUPS TOO.

99% BULLSHIT WILL BE ELIMINATED. GUARANTEED!

The Heat is On !

Ahhh, J-Fed taking some heat for the Waste of Chicago's 3rd of July fiasco. Don't feel too bad as he's pulling in over $300 grand a year. Pick any one of the Press links on the right side and search around a bit, you're bound to find something...

New Commish..

Orozco being promoted to the OEMC, John Brooks taking over as CFD Fire Commisioner (2-1-3), Bob Hoff new 1st Deputy Fire Commisioner (2-1-4), move on the EMS side too. Ahhh, so many changes...

Another You Tube Video:

I have sent to most of you another You Tube video, which this time puts the CFD Paramedics in a somewhat bad light. Occured on the north side with Amb. 13. Sounds like the typical "down from unknown cause" call. Their were a few blunders they did, but overall not too much violated any rules here. Cameras are all over these days, so all must be careful.

A lot of fire hydrants open in 010 tonight. Hopefully no one NEEDS the water for an emergency tonight. Is that Z6 witch who is over in Zone 10 tonight?........

Anonymous said...

Hey Sid..that was not me on Zone 10 but it was a regular Zone 6 voice you heard. That was Laura...she visits 10 every now and then when she doesn't have a regular good partner on 6! I was off that night... :-)

The number of open hydrants are amazing! Didn't the police used to carry hydrant keys? I would thank that would make more sense in getting the hydrants closed faster...!!!

FYI Saturday night ... just on mids .. murder suicide + new born baby killed by it's mother + 15 people shot (two homey-cides) = another busy ass night!!!!!

Some new Acronyms on the Zone today:

S.O.R. Check...Sex Offender Registration

S.O.L...Sex Offender L?

Witchy...any ideas?

Mobile Strike Force..

I read on the SCC Blog (Link to the Right), that a "new and improved" SOS is hoping to become operational by Halloween. Another name change coming...shall we guess on their Radio Signatures? I'm guessing 4300 Series Units...anyone else take a guess?

Anonymous said...

Why make a new set of numbers when the old ones are no longer being used...!! That would require someone to think of a new set of numbers. Hopefully if they do...if won't be fu%&*d up numbers like 41T71B or 41G70B...I HATE HATE HATE those...

flyonthewall said...

I agree K-Mart. They need to reconfigure this whole Special Operations Section stuff around. We got TRU is 4200 Series, 46xxx are Canines, 460x are SORT Teams. They just need to keep it simple...

but fly...that will NEVER happen because it would make sense...!!

From SCC..Mobile Strike Force Related:

Anyone willing to do that type of policing these days is OUT OF THIER FUCKING MIND! And no, I’m not talking about that less than 10% of SOS that fucked things up (Jerome, Keith, et.al.). Why? So this new department can (and will) leave you hanging? Keep on demanding more from you, and giving you suspension time in return? Micro-managed, scrutinized beyond belief? Correct me if I’m wrong, but has ANYONE heard of an ACTUAL INCIDENT where the Department or “J-what’s his name” has stepped up and LOOKED OUT FOR AN OFFICER? Instead, I’ve heard of the Police being treated like a pawn in a sick, twisted, failing game of chess that costs $310K a year to play.

The city and Department disbanded Task Force, Gangs, SOS for reasons. Well, you got what you wanted; you don’t want us to be the POLICE anymore! Crime is up, arrests are down, morale sucks, no one trusts over half of the bosses, or the ASA’s. Judges and the rest of the politicians will only do something if it affects their rating for the next election, and their own good. Yet the Mayor and the City keeps catering to the troublemakers and their “reverends”. And the City keeps slowly sliding into a corruption fueled, shitty abyss that looks suspiciously like the Motor City. While the aldermen vote themselves a 6%+ “Cost of living” increase (because a “raise” sounds just too damn pretentious!) and the Citizens are none the wiser. If you listen to Maggie Daley, you can almost hear her say “Let them eat cake”, in between the double shots of single malt! Then, all of a sudden, “Holy shit, I just had an epiphany! We need a unit that will go out and kick ass, take names, lock up an exponential amount of bad-guys, quell riots, get guns, drugs and gangs, just because arrests are down, and crime is up!” is heard from an upper floor at 35th street.

Why? Bust our collective asses, doing your dirty work, with no reward so you can fuck us again? I have an idea for that fancy new patch they want…. It’s a big blue cock with CPD on the side about to be jammed into an asshole of some patrolman. It should be a reminder of the units impending doom.

Old Unit 153.

(BTW? Can someone tell me why we have a TRU if we need another unit like this?)
